It’s a management strategy game where you develop a facility from the ground up, much like the “Theme” and “Sim” series, only in this you’re keeping the convicted populus happy… or not if the thought of being a sadistic warden is more your thing. In Prison Architect you do exactly what the title suggests: design, build, populate and run your own prison. That didn’t stop The Escapists being developed by Team 17 that put you in the shoes of a prisoner hell bent on McGuyvering his way out of increasing more secure units and it hasn’t stopped Introversion Software and Double Eleven from taking the opposite slant with Prison Architect – what’s it like trying to keep all those inmates under control? If you ever watched Oz and wanted Tim McManus’s job then this is probably the game for you. After all, there aren’t many people who want to spend their time away from the real world in a restrictive and tightly controlled environment with a fixed daily routine. There aren’t many prison games out there… sure there are plenty of levels set in prison, just not many that set your adventure totally during incarceration.
